Hello, I'm Alicia Mattera.

Founder / Director of Education
Postpartum Doula, Childbirth Educator, Postpartum Placenta Specialist, Certified Lactation Counselor

I am blessed to be the mother of two sons and two daughters. I am married to a man I met when I was 12 and we're still going strong! My own experiences with childbirth and motherhood are varied. I gave birth to my first child when I was 21, and my last child at 38. Three of my children were born in the hospital and one was born at home. My youngest daughter was born at 24 weeks and spent 104 days in the NICU. That experience gave me firsthand knowledge of the strength and resilience of NICU families and the different types of support they require. In 2008, I chose to have my first daughter at home and in doing my research I came across a career I didn't even know existed. I learned about childbirth educators, doulas, midwives, placenta encapsulators and lactation consultants! I knew then I had found my passion! I spent the next 8 years training and preparing for a career in this business. I dreamed that one day I would have a space where I could provide guidance and knowledge to new parents, and provide them with a safe place to talk about their individual experiences. My personal goals are focused on running my business and teaching childbirth education. I want to prepare parents for their upcoming birth and parenting as well as support them in making the decisions that work best for their family.

The important stuff

I spend all of my free time reading books, going to training sessions, attending conferences, and soaking in educational events on pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I've attended births at home and in the hospital and provided postpartum and lactation support to many families. I am the first ProDoula trained Postpartum Placenta Specialist in Las Vegas. I graduated from college at the age of 43 with an AA in Science, I hope to go back one day and receive a Bachelors degree. I am trained and/or certified as a labor doula, postpartum doula, childbirth educator and lactation counselor. I've also had extensive training in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.

What do I do for fun?

Spending time with my family is my favorite thing to do! We love the beach and we love to camp. I love coffee and hot yoga! I also enjoy reading motivational books and dreaming of my future. I look forward to meeting you and sharing my love and passion for all things pregnancy, birth, and postpartum related.

Working with Alicia was one of the best decisions I could have made for my pregnancy. She is supportive, compassionate, and professional. I appreciated that she patiently listened to my fears, wishes, and thoughts—and offered helpful advice when needed. She was non judgmental and focused on education and knowledge rather than fear. She responded to my emails and texts in a timely manner and made clear from the beginning of our relationship the kind of service and the timeframes of that service. I also appreciated her sense of humor and warmth. I would recommend her and Doulas of Las Vegas to any friends who were expecting!
