Hello, I'm Alicia Mattera.
Founder, Birth & Postpartum Support Professional, Newborn Care Specialist, Certified Lactation Counselor, Childbirth & Parenting Educator
I am the mother of two sons and two daughters. My own experiences with childbirth and motherhood are varied. I gave birth to my first child when I was 21, and my last child at 38. Three of my children were born in the hospital and one was born at home. My youngest daughter was born at 24 weeks and spent 104 days in the NICU. That experience gave me firsthand knowledge of the strength and resilience of NICU families and the different types of support they require. I’ve spent the last 10 years training and preparing for a career helping women become mothers and supporting them and their choices during this important time. I have attend multiple trainings with a variety of organizations to become trained and/or certified as a Labor Doula, Postpartum Doula, Childbirth Educator, Lactation Counselor and Postpartum Placenta Specialist. I also have extensive training in Postpartum Mood Disorders and I’ve been the Postpartum Support International volunteer in Las Vegas for the last 2 years.
The important stuff
I spend all of my free time reading books, going to training sessions, attending conferences, and soaking in educational events on pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I've attended births at home and in the hospital and provided postpartum and lactation support to many families over the last 10 years. I graduated from college at the age of 43 with an AA in Science and I will go back one day for a Bachelors degree.
What do I do for fun?
Spending time with my husband and children is my favorite thing to do! We love the beach and we love to camp. I love coffee and hot yoga! I also enjoy reading motivational books and dreaming of my future. I look forward to meeting you and sharing my love and passion for all things pregnancy, birth, and postpartum related.
